Once again we will have a math team at both Heritage and Friendly Hills.
Math Team is designed for those students who enjoy math and would like a little extra practice or challenge. The math involved is mixture of 6th, 7th and 8th grade math. We have had many 5th graders successfully participate. Typically we have two weeks of practice and then a meet. A bus will transport students to the meet and back to their school again (returning around 5:30 - a very specific schedule will be posted once the schedule is set. Students may have to be dismissed early on some meet days.
Meets consist of two individual tests (5 problems in 10 minutes) and one group test with 6 students solving 10 problems in 20 minutes. All students will participate fully in all activities. At the start of the meet, I will name the six students whose scores will count as the team score. Depending on how a student does in practice and at the meet, they may earn their way onto the gold or red teams.
Practice will start on Monday, Sept 21 - bring a pencil
We will meet every Monday school is in session until the final meet on Jan 11, 2016
Friendly Hills will practice from 7:30 am to 8:25 am Room 121 Lower Green
Heritage will practice from 3:15 - 4:15 in room 160.
Tentative Meet Schedule: (On meet days there is no practice. We will return around 5:30)
I will publish a detailed schedule once it is confirmed by all teams in our conference.
